About Compare Currency Brokers

An independent comparison of UK currency brokers. Who writes it, who owns it, and the one commercial interest you should know about before you read the table.

Compare Currency Brokers is an independent comparison site for UK currency brokers handling large international transfers. We publish only figures we can trace to a primary source, and we tell you plainly when a broker will not publish something.

Who writes this site?

Charlie Hinwick, ACCA — Author.

Charlie is an ACCA-qualified accountant with ten years in practice. He compiles and checks every figure on this site against its primary source: the broker’s own website, the Financial Conduct Authority Register, Companies House, or Trustpilot.

His background is accountancy, not currency broking, and we would rather say so than dress it up. That is the relevant skill here. This site does not trade currency or quote rates. It reads published numbers, checks them, and refuses the ones that cannot be sourced — which is what a decade of auditing accounts trains you to do.

Charlie is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and does not provide regulated financial advice. Nothing on this site is a personal recommendation.

Ownership and commercial interests

This site is operated as an independent editorial project. It is not yet incorporated; when a limited company is formed, its name and company number will appear here. For any query, contact info@comparecurrencybrokers.com.

You should know one thing before you read our comparison table. The operator of this site has a commercial interest in the currency-transfer sector. Any firm connected to that interest is deliberately excluded from this site: it does not appear in our comparison table, and receives no referrals from us. We took that decision so that the table could not be shaped, even unconsciously, by an interest in one of the firms in it.

We are telling you this because you could find it out anyway, and a comparison site that waits to be caught is not worth reading. Weigh our table with that in mind.

How are we funded?

Today, we are not. No broker in our table pays us anything, and we have no affiliate agreements with any of them. We intend to earn referral commission in future, and when we do we will name the broker and mark its row before you see any change. The full position is on our How We Make Money page.

What will we not do?

  • We will not publish a figure we cannot attribute to the broker, the FCA Register, Companies House or Trustpilot.
  • We will not estimate an exchange rate margin. No UK currency broker publishes one, and a guess presented as data is worse than an empty cell.
  • We will not list a broker that is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
  • We will not give you a personal recommendation. We publish information; the decision is yours.

How do I report an error?

If a figure on this site is wrong or out of date, email info@comparecurrencybrokers.com and we will correct it and note the correction.

Brokers are welcome to send us updated published figures. We will verify them against the broker’s own website before changing anything, and we will not accept a figure that a broker will not also publish on its own site.

Our ranking criteria are set out in full on our methodology page.
